Principal's Message

Dear Chief Tomat Families and Community,

I am excited, honoured and grateful to come to Chief Tomat as your new Principal for September 2023.  I am proud to be a CTE Wolverine!  I live in West Kelowna with my family and being at a school  on the land I love and a part of the community that is dear to my heart, is a dream come true.

One of my first priorities will be to get to know our school community – the staff, the students and the families. I look forward to getting to know you and your children, learning the many strengths of Chief Tomat, hearing your hopes for the future and supporting our community as we work together to do great things for our students. I am grateful to Mr. Ward and the CTE staff as they have welcomed me into the school a couple of times and I have been fortunate to have met many of our students in the last couple of weeks in June.

I have been an educator for 24 years with Central Okanagan Public Schools, but have been a learner here all my life, having attended Bankhead Elementary School and Kelowna Senior Secondary School. I have taught all over our district, including Hudson Road and Glenrosa Middle School.  Most recently, I was the Vice-Principal at Davidson Road Elementary School. My father was a teacher (he even taught me in Grade 7!) and school Principal, so education and working with children is in my blood. I am deeply passionate about making a difference for our children. I will work tirelessly to do all that I can to support and encourage our staff and students so each student succeeds and reaches their full potential.

I live in West Kelowna with my family and being at a school which is on the land I love and a part of the community that is dear to my heart, is a dream come true. We are an active family who loves being in West Kelowna. I have a 19 year old daughter who is going to UBC in Kelowna, with hopes of being a teacher. I also have 17 year old twin boys who attend Mount Boucherie Senior Secondary, playing basketball and soccer in the community and at school. When I am not at school, I am often running the trails in Kalamoir Park or hiking Mount Boucherie with my golden retriever, Boaz.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

With gratitude,

Mrs. Jennifer Adamson
